Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States and the world. There are basically two types of lung cancer: non-small-cell lung cancernon small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which comprises the majority of cases of lung cancer and lung cancer, small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Lung cancer makes up about 13 percent of all cases of lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). The disease occurs more often in men than in women. No significant difference in incidence between the races.
